Active school travel

A posterThe school has an Active School Travel Plan which outlines the objectives to be achieved and the strategies being implemented to increase the number of students travelling actively from an average of 34% to 50% by 2016. Download a copy of the Active School Travel plan (PDF, 674KB).

The Active School Travel program is the City of Gold Coast's travel behaviour change program that aims to reduce traffic congestion around schools. The program promotes walking, cycling, riding a scooter, skating, public transport and carpooling as active, safe and healthy ways to commute to and from school.

Robina State School operates a structured after school pick up system that is designed to maximise the safety of our student. Cars must not enter the Killarney Avenue carpark between 2.30pm and 3.30pm. Download a copy of the information brochure.

In conjunction, the Healthy Active School Travel (HAST) program also aims to promote healthy and active lifestyles and improve intake of fruit and vegetables for primary school-aged children.

Almost three-quarters of primary school students and half of all secondary school students live within three kilometres of their nearest school. Encouraging active travel will help to tackle rising rates of childhood obesity.

Participating schools work with a dedicated Active School Travel Officer and a Healthy Active School Travel Officer who provide guidance, support, resources and rewards. You can find out more about Active School Travel by visiting the City of Gold Coast website.

Park and stride program

Robina State School is working hard to establish healthy lifestyles for all of our students and families. You can help by walking to and from school instead of driving. The Robina State School Family Park and Stride map shows six suggested routes for students and families to use. Download a copy of the Family Park and Stride map (PDF, 786KB).
