An Overview of the year is as follows:

Term 1:

In the unit Discover, Expand, Explore the focus will be world history. The breadth of the unit allows the students to investigate topics such as ancient civilizations, Australian history and space and sea exploration. Students will construct a monument or model from a time in history. They will share this with parents and a wider school audience as part of the term's culminating activity.

Term 2:

This term's activities will be built around the topic Cultural Environments: Symbols, Personalities, Places and Events. Children will look at a range of world cultures and appreciate tthe way events, people, symbols and places shape society.

The year 5 camp will be held at Camp Midginbil at a date to be advised

Term 3:

And Now For The News will be the focus of this term's work. Students will investigate the role of newspapers in presenting news. They will investigate events, current and past and consider the elements that make them newsworthy.

Term 4:

In the unit Why I Live Where I Live students will participate in activities to promote an understanding of adaptation and the role it plays in the life of various groups including humans, plants and animals.
