We are constantly seeking ways to provide a digital environment to engage students in experiences which develop the skills to participate in the digital environment in which they live. We challenge them to use these skills to break down the classroom walls and become a part of a world community. The ICT centre now consists of 2 computer labs. Lab1 containing 30 workstations and Lab 2 containing 25 workstations. A wireless hub in the ISC facilitates the flexible use of a bank of laptops. Our curriculum workstations are Apple Macs. These machines, with associated software, suit the needs of our curriculum programs which are media rich. Classes have set times through the week in one lab and the other has a flexible weekly timetable to facilitate special projects or specialist needs. Children also have access to Lab 1 for recreation on a lunchtime schedule. on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Children who have work to complete have access any day on these breaks, and may negotiate further time with ICT Centre staff. An Investing in Schools Grant has allowed us to upgrade the furniture in Lab 1 and we have only this year installed 11 interactive whiteboards in the 2 labs and 9 classrooms. The teachers will be working together developing their skills and programs making good use of these wonderful teaching tools. The Centre is staffed by: Mrs Judy East - ICT Support Teacher Mrs Lynn Taylor - Tech Support For any information on ICT use in the school please feel free to contact me: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it |
